An informed source in the regional government revealed, on Sunday (September 6, 2020), the reasons for delaying the visit of the regional government delegation headed by Qubad Talabani to Baghdad, which was scheduled to take place today.
The source told (Baghdad Today), “Baghdad was not ready for the visit because it was preoccupied with a number of issues, most notably the events in the south and Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi’s preoccupation with supervising security operations.”
He added that “there is also a lack of agreement within the region between the two main parties, especially with the presence of popular pressure on the necessity of signing the comprehensive agreement and paying the salaries of employees in the region in full without deduction.”
And that “Baghdad has a set of conditions also concerning the management of border crossings, the quantities of oil that will be delivered by the region and other topics, while the visit is expected to take place next Tuesday after the cabinet meeting in the region.”
The spokesman for the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Samir Hawrami, announced, on Sunday (September 6, 2020), the postponement of the visit of the regional government delegation headed by Qubad Talabani, scheduled today to Baghdad, indicating that it was postponed to the coming days.
